Here is Lad....our blue merle rough collie.
And this is Ari, the tuxedo tabby, in August of 2006. One of the last pictures of him before he began to decline. He died
December 19, 2006 at the age of 15 years, 8 months. He lived with diabetes for 6 of his nearly 16 years, but was still alert to the end. He's waiting at
the Rainbow Bridge for me now, bossing the other cats and giving the dogs what for. Peace Ari.

Want to do something to help stop global warming? Here are 10 simple things you can do and how much carbon dioxide you'll save doing them.
Change a light Replacing one regular light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb will save 150 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
Drive Less Walk, bike, carpool or take mass transit more often. You'll save one pound of carbon dioxide for every mile you don't drive!
Recycle more You can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide per year by recycling just half of your household waste.
Check your tires Keeping your tires inflated properly can improve gas mileage by more than 3%. Every gallon of gasoline saved keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere!
Use less hot water It takes a lot of energy to heat water. Use less hot water by installing a low flow showerhead (350 pounds of CO2 saved per year) and washing your clothes in cold or warm water (500 pounds saved per year).
Avoid products with a lot of packaging You can save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide if you cut down your garbage by 10%.
Adjust your thermostat Move your thermostat down just 2 degrees in winter and up 2 degrees in summer. You could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple adjustment.
Plant a tree A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.
Turn off electronic devices Simply turning off your television, DVD player, stereo, and computer when you're not using them will save you thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
Spread the word! Tell everyone you know about these simple ways to Take Action!

Family includes 3 cats and one dog. (We lost our oldest cat late in 2006)...
In additon, I'm an unrequited horse-crazy girl who never grew
up, and still wishes for a horse of my own! My main hobby is stitching (of course!). I stitch on a rotation, love designs by Teresa Wentzler, Crossed Wing, and
Chatelaine, and like making quilts on occasion. I also love reading, chocolate, and hanging out with DH and DD and the pets. I volunteer with a local
environmental group, and have been known to do a little subversive bird watching!
I also follow Duke Basketball, and Carolina Hurricanes hockey, Stanley Cup champs for 2006! Go

On the Olympic front....watched
the finals in Individual Show Jumping this morning.....Beezie Madden of the US won Bronze in a jump-off by a tenth of a second.....she and her fellow American
McLain Ward used a little bit of cleverness in the timed jump-off by jumping over some of the decorations to take a shorter route...would have worked
for McLain too, but he mis-judged the last jump....Beezie went clear on Authentic and won the Bronze, then the real magic began! There was a jump-off for
Gold/Silver between a Swede and a Canadian, Eric Lamaze....Eric won! His horse Hickstead was amazing!
After team medals Gold and Silver for US and Canada, Beezie Madden said "It's been a great week for North America." Well said!

Can't forget to mention the US Equestrian Show Jumping
Team at the Olympics...Winners of GOLD!
Have to give kudos to the Canadians for their Silver
too...came from behind to force a jump-off and but for a block off the wall.....happy for Ian Miller, (Captain Canada!)....61 years old, in his 9th Olympics
and he finally wins a medal!

This is San-Man's Americana Birdhouses, stitched together on 14ct ice blue aida. I finished it 8/11/08 while watching the US men's gymnastics team
win the Bronze metal in the team competition!
(also saw Gina Miles win the Silver in Individual Eventing in the Equestrian Competition today!) ![]()
Later today I'm going to get out my Majestic Eagle (the Olympics are so inspiring!) and try and get him finished this month! Maybe Michael Phelps can win a
few more swimming Gold medals to keep me stitching! ![]()

I'm also participating in
The Wagon's Stitching Olympics, with one piece (the August towel) in the Sprint competition completed so far. I'm waiting on floss from NN to finish my
second entry, so I started SanMan's Patriotic Birdhouses last night. For the last couple of days, I have been working on another entry in the category of
Rotation Relay, finishing part 7 of Papillon's "How Does Your Garden Grow?" mystery sampler on Friday, and part 8 yesterday afternoon. Here it
is through pt. 8....I stitched roughly 6 hours on each part...it goes quickly!
I'm also planning on working on my Majestic Eagle, and my Holland Landscapes in Rotation Relay category as well. I'd like to try and do some finishing
for the Finish Line category, but we will see how much time I have. I'm sorta like one of those little countries in the Olympics....not much chance to win
a medal, but enjoying the experience! ![]()

Started on 7/31/08 while traveling to my uncle's funeral, and completed on 8/2/08. Also started another piece while I was visiting with the relatives.
Should be done with that one soon and will post again. I'm still trying to catch up on my board reading and emails. For some reason I'd rather stitch!
Back later.....![]()
